Schoolchildren invited to
official opening of a photographic exhibition organised by the Chinese Embassy 2nd August
2008
Monday 4th August 2008Schoolchildren involved with the Olympic Arts Project were
invited to the official opening of a photographic exhibition organised by the Chinese
Embassy at City Hall, London.
The pupils' artwork has previously been featured in
a separate exhibition at City Hall and the embassy was so impressed with their talents
that it asked the project to run a workshop specifically based on the Beijing Olympics.
The youngsters from St Gregory's School, Bath, and Trinity Primary School, Radstock, also
learned about Chinese culture and were interviewed on television.

The project received international recognition after
being featured on Chinese television.

Project co-founder and co-ordinator Loraine
Morgan-Brinkhurst said: "It was an amazing experience and an honour to be part of the
event at City Hall.
"I know that a lot of friendships were made between ourselves, the Chinese Embassy
and their guests, and we will now continue to nurture the links and friendships made.
"My idea is that, later this year, we would like to hold an exhibition in Bath of all
the artwork created on the day, which will show not only the Beijing Olympics but also
capture Chinese culture and architecture."
Official Olympic artist Kevin Whitney has travelled to Beijing for the Games and will be
showing off the artwork created by the children involved in the project.
The project relies entirely on sponsorship and this event was supported by Bath
businesswoman Jennifer Skellett and the London-based Dragon Page Media Group. |
